The Rubin Defense

I can't take it anymore. I sit around watching MSNBC being amazed at the imaginations of the Issas of the world. His fantasies are at first  entertaining but then frightening when one realizes that this guy is a US Congressman. More recently,  I have glanced at something called "The Right Turn" written by (gasp) another Rubin.

Although she and I are not in any way related, I feel that my good name is being besmirched by her ridiculous right wing point of view.  So it's time for the Rubin name to be cleared.

 Today she wrote:
What should we think of the Obama fundraising plea to stiff brides and grooms of wedding gifts and instead send money to him?  No one in Obamaland picked up on the creepy Great Leader-aspect to this gambit. The notion that personal relationships and celebrations should be sublimated to the ruler suggests the totalitarian temptation is alive and well.
This is fear mongering conservatism at its best.  If today it's gifts - (like some RUSSIAN vodka or some CUBAN cigars or some CHINESE checkers), tomorrow it must be forced labor camps in the North Slope, is that it?
But what's really worse is how indicative this post is of the myopia of  the Right Turners.  On the same page with the wedding gift request, just below it, is something about 50,000 times more important. This fact:
In 2004, Romney vetoed a bill that would have banned state contractors from outsourcing state work overseas."
Rubin, in Romney-esque  fashion, just skipped past the bigger issue in favor of a small issue which she then totally blew out of proportion.
